This unit was recruited at Kickapoo, Anderson Co., May 1861. One of the enlistees was Smith S. HONEA from Cherokee County. He died of typhoid May 25, 1862. I am trying to determine if he could possibly be buried in Cherokee County in an unmarked grave that has been pointed out over the years as his grave. Will someone with history of this unit help, please. If he could indeed have been near home when he died we will have a marker placed on the site.
