Some of the civil war veterans that I am familiar with. Enlisted and are buried in Brown County:
Sam Coggin............17th Texas Infantry
Bart Millholland......23rd Texas Infantry
Samuel McInnis........7th Texas Cavalry
Brooks W. Lee.........15th Texas Cavalry
William A. Earp.......15th Texas Cavalry

Enlisted elswhere and are buried in Brown County:
John Henry Damron.....1st Texas Cavalry (Arizona Brigade)
*Joshua David Coffee..1st Texas Cavalry (Arizona Brigade)
*Andrew Jackson Webb..2nd Tennesee Cavalry (U.S.)
*Peyton Green Whaley..1st Arkansas Cavalry

There are total of 388 Confederate veterans buried in Brown County. However, very few of those were in Brown County when the war started. Most veterans moved to the area after the war.

*William Ellijay Gilmer..14th Georgia Infantry (Drummer Boy). Buried in the Smith Cemetery in Lampasas County.

* My great grandparents.
