I have no information about his military career during the Civil War but I'd like to add a Canadian flare to the life of Joseph A. Tivy. Joseph was born in York County, Ontario, Canada on Feb. 25, 1818. He was the youngest son but nineth child of 11 children of Thomas Tivey and Susannah Britton, my great-great-great grandparents. My great-great grandmother, Catherine Tivy (Goodfellow) being the oldest. There is quite military connection in Joseph's background. Thomas was with the Queen's Rangers just prior to gaining a land grant in Upper Canada (Ontario). Susannah Britton's father, Ebenezer Britton and many of his family fought with the Revolutionary Forces.
