Searching for letters, journals, and other personal and public documents referencing the life and military service of Capt. Howel A. "Doc" Rayburn (1842-about 1865-66). Born in Tennessee, he lived in Texas at the start of the war and enlisted in the 12th Texas Cavalry. He later commanded an independent guerrilla group in Arkansas.
