Seeking information on this unit. I have a letter from Henry Travis of this unit in Nov. 1861 included in a collection of letters of his friend George S. Lea, Co. C 7th Miss. The letter comes from camp on the Potomac River.

Later in the war he goes to the Army of Tenn. some time in 1863. Looking for a connection to Longstreet and the Battles around Chattanooga (Missionary Ridge, Chickamauga)and any other biographical information. His brother Nick Travis was in the 7th Miss. I am sure they have an Amite County Miss. connection. Not sure why Henry joined a Texas unit.
