Re: Major Carter, Texas State Troops, please ident

I have an ancestor who served in the 1st Reg, Texas Inf. His service card indicates the En. & Mus. Off. (enlisting and mustering officer?) was Maj. J.C. Carter.

It indicates they were stationed at Camp Roberts Ap7-64. Where was this camp? They had also been at Camp Magruder for 6 months beginning Mar. 16-64. I have found this to have been around Minden, LA.

He had also been in the Bonham Dragoons, Independent MV, 14th Brigade, TM under John R. Russell. Do you know what the MV and TM stand for?

Thanks,

rle
