Those not lost or destroyed as most were are probably at the Texas State Archives and other collections.

The survival rate for these was not very high. Like any account book for an enterprise no longer in business, it was not easy for owners to imagine any further purpose in retaining them. We still hear of people trashing priceless letters and dairies today, so it should not be surprising that books like these that should be in the archives were discarded in the difficult years which followed the war.
