Re: Green to Brazil
In Response To: Re: Green to Brazil ()

Pinkney Green (P.M. Green) settled in Iguape, State of Sao Paulo Brazil. He was in Col. Hardeman's 1st Texas Cavalry regiment and was among the exiles who went to Brazil with Col. P.C. Hardeman and his family.

P.M. Green is buried in the Campo Cemetery with other non-Catholic Confederados. The land for the Campo Cemetery was donated by A.T. Oliver, who was a wealthy Texas plantation owner before the war who fled to Brazil during reconstruction. When Oliver's wife and one of his children died of disease soon after arriving in Brazil, he found the need for a Protestant cemetery in the Amaricana Colony.
