Jerry, your ancestor may have been guilty of nothing more than being Scotch-Irish. See the link for infromation about the practice of shipping them out to get them off the land. The first Boring arrived from Ireland in the 1680's, and settled in Maryland, then Virginia. My branch moved south and west, while others went to Pennsylvania and Ohio.
