Re: CSA units in the Red River Campaign

Jerry,
Your list of units is much appreciated. There is one item I would like to correct for the record. Some unit numbers of the Texas regiments organized later in the war became mixed and duplicated. These units can be easy to confuse and identification mistakes are made. The 35th Texas Cav Regt was one of these duplicated units. Col Brown's 35th was not present in Louisiana during the Red River campaign. Col. James B. Liken's 35th Texas Cavalry was the unit of record. Liken's regiment was part of General Bee's six regiments which were sent to supplement Taylor's forces in March 1864. Brown's regiment among others, remained in Texas defending the coast against an expected invasion on that front. Liken's 35th Cavalry Texas Regiment did not return to Texas until early 1865.

I believe Terrell's Texas Cavalry also had a duplicated number with another unit.
