Re: children in Texas during Civil War

I edited the correspondence of Captain Theophilus Perry (28th Texas Cavalry) and his wife Harriet. The letters (particularly those from Harriet) contain information about their daughter, Martha (nicknamed Sugar Lumpy), as well as Harriet's pregnancy and the birth of her son, Theophilus, Jr. The letters have a few passages that I recall that document the impact of Captain Perry's absence on his children. Here are the bibliographic details for the book:
Johansson, M. Jane, ed. WIDOWS BY THE THOUSAND: THE CIVIL WAR CORRESPONDENCE OF THEOPHILUS AND HARRIET PERRY, 1862-1864. Fayetteville: University of Arkansas Press, 2000.
