The 15th Texas Infantry marched from Waco to Arkansas and joined a brigade in January 1863. The brigade under Col.Joseph W. Speight, which included his 15th Texas Infantry, marched back to Texas through deep snow in Indian Territory, leaving the 20th Texas Infantry in Indian Territory. He may have died on the march and is buried in some cemetery somewhere in Indian Territory along the Texas Road (U.S. Hwy.69).
