Richard B. Cothran, Guadeloupe County

Richard B. Cothran (also spelled Cochran) was born in Spartanburg Dist, S.C. ca 1845, but moved with his parents to the George's Creek Section of Pickens Dist by the 1860's. He enlisted in I/Hampton Legion Infantry 25 Feb 63. His regiment was converted to Mounted Infantry May 64. He was present on the last roll Dec 64, but does not appear on any parole lists, probably being home on furlough to remount, since he does not appear on any deserter lists, but anything is possible. By 1870 he had moved to the White Water Community in western Oconee County, S.C. His collateral relatives tell me that he was living in Guadeloupe County in 1881. Census data in 1870 indicates he was a carpenter. Any information on this man would be appreciated. Thanks.
