Re: Camplains from Red River Cty in15th TX Cav.

According to family history my ggrandfather, James Shaw Camplain, and his brother, John S. Camplain, served in the 15th Texas Cavalry. The surname was often spelled Kamplain, or Kampplain. James Shaw Camplain was born 1844-1845, John S. Camplain born 1843, both in Sugarloaf Township, Crawford (after 1850 Sebastian) County, Arkansas.

They were in Red River County, Texas from after 1860 to 1870, thereafter Brown and San Saba Counties.

Is this possibly correct?

Where could I confirm?

Any information greatly appreciated.
