Ms Ray,

I knew it was a long shot ; however, I went ahead and ran a search for "your" men on the National Park Services Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. When I put in Texas as the state they served with , I got no "hits" . However, when I left the state funtion empty, the search basically included all Confederate soldiers from any state. What I come up with is this : an H.M. Lovejoy serving with the 14th Alabama Infantry and an Elijah B. Seaton serving with the 49th Alabama Indantry. The system did not identify a John C.or J.C Mariott.

Now, I don't want to make anymore out of this than what I have just given to you. These may be "your " men and they may not. Furthermore , just because Mariott's name did not appear on the database does not mean that he did not serve. I've got a couple of relatives who served with Texas outfits ( one was killed in action) yet they don't show up on the system . But , at least with what you now have , it may give you a place to conduct further research.

I do know that after the war, many Alabamians moved to Texas to start over. My family had three brothers who served in the 6th Alabama Infantry and after the war, they moved to central Texas to start over. So, "your" men may have been these Alabamians.
Good Hunting , Craig
