I am trying to pinpoint the location of W. P. Lane's First Texas Partisan Rangers on June 5, 1863. I know they were in Avoyelles Parish, LA, about 40 miles below Alexandria and 30 miles above the mouth of the Red River. This should put them somewhere near Fort DeRussy or David's Ferry. Would anyone know of any old letters, diaries, etc., that could confirm one of these locations, or put them somewhere else in the area?
