Re: Sgt. John W. Burns 22nd Tx. Infantry Hubbard R

Carrol,

I completely forgot about Jim Martin having Blessington's book online . I'm real glad he checks this site on a regular basis. By the way, I checked the NPS site for Civil War Soldiers and Sailors . I find your Sgt John Burns listed with the 22nd in Co. A just as you said. He is on line # 190 in the list of men in the 22nd . I also find another Burns in Co A. His name is T.J. Burns. Since they are in the same company and regiment , I wonder if they were related ; maybe son and father or brother and brother. Anyway , on the NPS CWS&S page you will find Sgt Burn's index cards ( muster , service , etc) listed on Film # 227 , roll # 5. That should get you where you want to start . From there you just keep following "the trail" of the 22nd, Co A. It looks like John Burns entered the CSA service as a Private and had been promoted to Sgt by the end of the war. T.J. Burns went in a Private and came out a Private . Good hunting !
Best Regards, Craig Morin
