Re: Battle Flags of Major's Brigade

Greg,

The regiments in the brigade were as follows:

1st (W. P. Lane's) Texas Partisan Rangers
2nd (Stone's) Texas Partisan Rangers
2nd (Baylor's) Cavalry, Arizona Brigade
3rd (Phillips') Cavalry, Arizona Brigade

Also attached at one time was P. T. Herbert's Battalion, Arizona Cavalry or Arizona Brigade A.K.A the "Arizona Battalion" this was consolidated and rarely mentioned into an independent scouting company under Capt. Jim Tevis called "Arizona Scouts" that served with the brigade until the surrender at Hempstead, TX in 1865.

And also this battery served with the brigade:

1st (Semmes') Confederate Artillery (a Louisiana Battery)

This brigade was organized sometime in April or May of 1863. The "Arizona Battalion" served with Sibley's brigade in late 1862 and early 1863 before being assigned to Major's in May of 1863.

Thanks Greg for any help on surviving examples or descriptions.
