Billy,

Man , are you lucky ! There is a ton of stuff on the 6th Texas Cavalry Regiment . They were a very active unit ; one that fought all over the Trans Mississippi West and in the Franklin / Nashville Tenn. Campaign just to name a few. They fought with Nathan Bedford Forrest at Franklin. The 6th was part of the famous Ross Brigade ( Sul Ross later Gov. of Texas and first president of Texas A&M University). I could go on and on about them but let me steer you to some web sites that can help you conduct your own search

In addition to these , there are several good books about the 6th and the Ross Brigade. Also look at the online version of the Handbook of Texas under Sul Ross and the Ross Brigade. In the Handbook , you will love the description the Ross Brigade was given by their superiors !
They sound like good old fashioned fightin' Texas Aggies
to me ! Good hunting , you'll have fun researching these boys , they were quite a hard fighting , but rowdy bunch
Best Regards, Craig
Billy, if you have trouble getting into these sites let me know , I'll try something else.
