I know you were surprised that I found your Price brothers who had "disappeared." ..This Madison Freeman Price even wrote a letter in December 1863 to his wife AFTER he enrolled November 6, 1863 in the Confederate Brush Battalion in Collin County.

Below is a listing of the CSA military units from which men from VanZandt, Wood, and Smith Counties had deserted then enrolled in the Confederate Brush Battalion. ..Thus far, I have identified 185 men, of 496 total, who were from VanZandt, Wood, and Smith Counties. ..Most were from Denton, Hunt and Collin Counties. ..There were about 2,000 men in the bush when 496 men voluntarily enrolled in the Confederacy, AGAIN.

Quoting Charles Temple's e-mails:

I grew up with many Price Family stories told to me by my grandmother, including the story of the two brothers who "disappeared" during the war and never returned to their families. You have certainly helped fill in some info there.
.
As I stated, the family received letters from Freeman as late as Dec. 1863, while he was on duty with this regiment in Louisiana. This was just prior to the unit's participation in an intense period of combat against Bank's Red River Expedition and against Federal forces in Arkansas. The brothers simply disappeared at this point.
