Mea Culpa I was confused by the fact that both the soldiers that were captured at Arkansas Post and those who were not captured, were formed into consolidated units. Those who were not capture were formed into the 17th Texas Consolidated Dismounted Cavalry on July 1,1863. They served in Polignac's Brigade and were in the thick of the fighting at Mansfield.
