The plaque placed by the UDC at Cornelius Deaton's tombstone reads "Cornelius D Deaton, Pvt Co I 35 Texas Calvary, Confederate States Army, May 8 1845, Nov 4 1909". I got an email from the Texas UDC saying they found a Texas Confederate Pension Index with the following result.
