You need to obtain Nancy's widow's pension application papers, see the service noted in the box above.

This will tell you when and where Cornelius died.

Strange, but this application is not listed in my copy of the Texas CSA Pension Index.

If her application was accepted, then she had authentication of his service by others, most likely of his regiment and their names
will be listed.
