Oops, sorry.I was mistaken in the date, it was the 26th and not the 23rd as I wrote. I have copies of my kinsman's military service record. His name was William Staines, but it was spelled "Stines" "Steins" etc. He was a private in Company C of the 26th Tx. Cavalry. In 1862 he was told to apply for his discharge because he was over 35 years old. (He was 42) By 1863 he was assigned extra duty as a teamster. I'm guessing that the Standing Order regarded teamsters.
