Re: 2nd Texas Partisan Rangers vs 2 Partisan Range

Both my great grandfathers were in Stone's 2nd Texas partisan calvery regiment, Co A from Wood county, Texas. This unit was conscripted March 15., 1863. Stone was an attorney from Dallas Texas, he resigned and turned the command of the regiment over to Colonel Chism. This unit was very active in and along the Atchafalia amd Mississippi river battleing Gen Banks army. Trying to keep them from taking overPort Hudsen and from advancing into Texas. This unit was in the division that was under the command of General Green If you have not visited Cornell universities records of all civil war correspondence that is microfish and quite extensive. It will give you most of the battles and locations that different regiments were involved in. The 2nd partisan calvery (Stones regiment was desbanded in 1865 April I believe ther is a roster of members that were discharged. I have the record someplace. If you are interested I might be able to find it. It sounds like your family was in the other 2nd Texas Calvery unit. E-mail me if I can be of additional assistance. I have done extensive research on Stones Regiment.

Goof luck in your pursuit of you family history.
