Ken:

According to the Choctaw Nation, they were at Pea Ridge. Whether they saw action there or not, the Choctaw Nation sent me a note stating that Cooper did go to the Battle of Pea Ridge. My GGFA George W. Risner and his son were in the Choctaw Mounted Rifle Div. and when I inquired about this to the Choctaw Nation, they said they did go to the Battle of Pea Ridge?? Wars are interesting as the records for the Civil War are often missing or incomplete. I did find my GGFA, Lt. George Risner and his son, Jack Risner, on the rolls of the Choctaw Mounted Rifles but there are just muster in and out records of when and how long they served. I can send you a copy I received from the Choctaw Nation that infers that when the Confederate Army recruited men they told them they would just be protecting their homes in the Indian Territory but were sent to the Battle of Pea Ridge. This is interesting because I have another ancestor who fought at Pea Ridge and I've been unable to find him in those Battle records, as well. Clydene
