Nocona Confederate Veterans' 1909 Reunion

From: NOCONA NEWS, Montague County, Texas.
.
The program for the October 18th, 19th, 20th, 1909 Confederate Veterans' Reunion was retyped and printed in the August 17, 1961 NOCONA NEWS, Nocona, Texas. It was sponsored by the Woodmen of the World as well as the Old Settlers and the United Confederate Veterans'. ..On the back cover of the program was a listing of the officers of their 1902 Reunion. ..There are about 150 soldiers listed including Generals W.L. Cabell and R.M. Gano plus Colonel J.A. Cummins.
.
Glen Wilson, a Nocona area historian of 1961, speculated that many of the men mentioned in the article were buried in the Montague County TX area. ..Your editor's relative "Wm. Reece Bourland" -- listed as "J.R. Bourland" -- lived in 1909 in Clarendon, Donley County TX. ..The rest of my relatives mentioned lived in the Nocona area or directly across Red River in Grady, Jefferson County OK.
