RE: Whereabouts in the census for C.R. Matney (who was b. IL, not LA, as some have read the census):
1850 - District 65, Oregon Co MO - his father was Brooks Matney, and his mother was Vina Upton, who d. abt 1850. They had substantial land in 1850
1860 - I find him only on that Tarrant Co TX Tax List, Chs Matly
1870 - Howell Co MO
1880 - Plumlee, Newton Co, AR (his granddaughter, who was my grandmother, was b. in Newton Co AR 1892)
1900 - Ellis Co TX
1912 - died; b. Bardwell, Ellis Co, buried Hughes Cemetery, Section 1 (info I have say that his wife, who d. 1909, is b. Elm Branch Cem?)

1850 - Randolph, AR
1860 - Tarrant Co TX Tax List, G Nance
1861 - Ellis Co TX, enlisted in Bradford's TX Cavalry
1863 - Tarrant Co TX Tax List, G W Nancey
1870 - Oregon Co MO
1880 - Summit, Boone Co AR; 1884 bought 160 acres there (my grandmother grew up in Harrison, Boone Co AR)
1900 -- Ellis Co TX, widower living with dau Emily Williamson (wife had died in AR - Eleanor Dossy Carter Naney)
1902 - died in Ellis Co TX, b. Hughes Cemetery (unmarked?)
