Texas Ordinance of Secession

Below is a copy of the Texas Ordinance of Secession. The last signatory is Sam A. Willson. Like most of the others, he served in the War. He was a captain in the 1st TX Infantry and fought in most of the ANV battles. In Feb. 1861, he was a 26 year old lawyer and probably the only delegate born in Texas. The very first signature is that of O.M. Roberts, who served in the War, in the legislature and became Governor in post Reconstruction Texas. He appointed Sam Willson to fill a vacancy in the Court of Criminal Appeals. Sam was later elected to that position.
