DeMorse's 29th Cav, 107 prisoners; Wise County

Curtis Payne,
.
Thank you for pointing out my web page that lists 107 prisoners. On Apr 3, 1865 Bourland's CSA Regt and some Texas State troops arrested 98 men in Wise County TX. Of the 98 arrested, 41 were from DeMorse's 29th Cavalry. Two pages from THE BOURLND PAPERS are featured on my web page. Countless man hours have been spent on these two pages which are significant in the study of the last year of the War on the North and West Frontier.

The reason that the author of your "DeMorse's 29th Cavalry" book did not include this rather exciting event is that this info came from THE BOURLND PAPERS. I, with the help of 4 dedicated researchers, am the first to transcribe, interpret, and index THE BOURLND PAPERS, which were given to the Library of Congress in about 1933.
.
It is high time for the history of the last 2 years of the War on the North and West Frontier to be compiled. Major distortions have been written into secondary and teritary sources to fill the void.
