Boykin, 3 bros of Red River County

Three men by the name of "Boykin, Buykin, Baykin" were listed in a Red River County militia. ..Intersting that they would come to Texas from Mississippi to serve in the militia.

Quoting Bobby Boykin:
.
I have been trying to establish just what actually happened to them during these years for some time and this is really the first factual information I have found.

My great grand father was Burrell Amos Boykin of Noxubee County, MS. He married Harriet Harless also of Noxubee County. Two of his brothers, Henry C and Jessie N, married Harriett’s two sisters. Judging from land deeds they sold their various properties in the 1860 – 1861 time periods and vanished from Noxubee County. Family stories said they went to TX and around 1865 returned to Noxubee County. Land deeds in that time period do show them buying/owning land in Noxubee County again after the mid 1860s.

I found both H.C. Boykin and B.A. Boykin in the same Noxubee Co MS household. Even though most of the men of the 243 militia listings of the 34 North Texas counties that I study lived within 20 miles of where they signed to be a Texas militia member, a few came several hundred miles to enroll in a militia, most of whom then mustered into a CSA military unit with close relatives.
.
Interesting that both B.A. and H.C. Boykin were listed in the same household.
