Factoid that might be of interest: Colonel Stevens's wife. Elizabeth Gooding, was the daughter of the Commissary at Fort Towson. They were married in the IT, their first son was born there, her brother was in Deneale's regiment, and she died in OK. Whatever Col. Stevens's failings as a commander, he was at least knowledgeable about the IT and the Indians there.
