Savage beef contract; 22d Cav-lst Indian TX Regt

Bruce Allardice,

Thank you for the factoid. Yes, I know the Goodings who were sutlers in Indian Territory, but I did not know that Col. James G. Stevens had married Elizabeth Gooding. I trust she was the daughter of George C. Gooding of Fort Towson, I.T. And yes, that will help in finding more about the beef contracts.
.
In my "Granville Graham" timeline, I found a second source stating that Ben and Sam Savage had a beef contract cited below. The other reference is Neill Johnson's CHICKASAW RANCHER.

.
Civil War, Grayson Co TX, Whitesboro, Sam & Ben Savage had a contract with Confederate War Dept to furnish beef to Ft Arbuckle in the Chickasha Nation IT; they were paid in Confederate money." per feature "Benjamin Savage", SOUVENIR OF TX.
