27th Cavalry - Whitfield's Legion

Hi, I am doing family research on my 4th Great Grandfather Owen "David" Griffin who served in the 27th Cavalry.

I am trying to research each of the events associated with him, but it seems this Cavalry unit was very active. I pulled all the records off footnote.com today and have the following summary of records. Could any of you Civil War gentlemen help me in interpretation of the records and events. I am trying to match up dates to events...but if there is anything you experience folks can contribute to help me understand what he was involved in/or not would be very helpful.
