Re: 27th Cavalry - Whitfield's Legion

Thanks Bill. (Owen) David and Benjamin Griffin were brothers (sons of David Anthony Griffin). David Griffin (father), Benjamin and James are all living in Rusk County Texas in 1860 on the census. We know our Owen David Griffin is son of David Griffin because we have possession of the family bible and tons of photos...of all the family together. BUT, our Owen David Griffin and his wife Catherine Elizabeth Wood Griffin are nowhere to be found in Texas in the 1860 census....at least I have been looking for years under every conceivable combination I can think of. I looked in Arkansas too...because that is where he took his family in Arkansas to stay with other extended family...but he is not there either. That is what makes this so difficult. By 1870 they are in Bosque county near the land he claimed as a result of his service. He's kind of like chasing a ghost.
