Castroville, Texas 24 November 14th, 1859
Sir:
I have the honor to report that I inspected Fort Inge on the 12th instant. It is occupied by Capt. Maclay's Co. F, 8th Infy., a Capt., 2d Lt. & 53 enlisted men, with an Asst. Surgeon, Hospital Steward & Ordnance Sgt. 12 men are on extra duty, 6 sick & 1 in confinement. The 2d Lt., Hazen, was severely wounded a week ago, in the third successful pursuit of Indians in which he has exhibited activity perseverance & courage.
