Looking for a, I believe, Confederate Veteran article where an elderly black man was arrested for stealing a chicken. In his defense he appealed to the judge, a Confederate Veteran, and stated he was in a destitute situation and all he was doing was what the judge, as a Confederate officer, told him to do when they were hungry during the late war. The elderly black man stated he was just "foraging" like the old days during the war after which, the court found him "Not Guilty." If anyone can help with a citation I would greatly appreciate it.
