The reference here is to Thomas Jefferson Bassett who was born in Louisiana, graduated Yale Law in 1853 and moved to Brenham, Texas, to practice law with his brother Ben H. Bassett. He served in the Confederate Army as part of Cobb's Legion. He was a member of the Cavalry, Co. A of Cobb's Legion. I married Lucy Breckinridge in January 1865, she died in June of that year from typhoid fever. He returned to Texas, remarried, had 4 daughters and died in 1885.
