Anybody trying to do research on the Civil War should take a look at Vicki Betts' website (link below), which contains a searchable database of many Civil War newspapers. One of the best things out there. Vicki has done us all a great service by putting this on the net. Whenever I am trying to research something in Texas, the first two things I look at are the Texas Handbook online and Vicki's newspaper index.
