Has anyone ever heard of a unit called "Howard's Infantry"----company, regiment, so forth? I found the grave of a black Confederate soldier with a VA marker. His g-grandson said that he obtained his military record form the library at Hillsboro College, but he could not remember much and I did not have time to ask if I could look at them. The name of the soldier is Isom Biggers and his descendent believes he was a free man and an infantryman. He resided in San Augustine, Texas.
