Gen. Shelby's Mexican Expedition

In the obituary for my great-great-uncle, Col. Crockett Boone, it states that after the Civil War ended, he and many other Confederate soldiers went to Mexico and offered their services to Prince Maximilian. I have been told that Gen. Joseph Shelby took a large contingent of confederate soldiers to Mexico, and picked up many recruits along his trail through Texas. Does anyone know if there exists any type of roster or list of soldiers who went with Gen. Shelby to Mexico. My uncle also, it is said, "tried to go to Cuba by way of Brazil," but was not successful. Any help will be appreciated.
