Bill Nolan,

Question: Who was Wm. Warwhoop, Whoopis, or Warhop in Whitfield's 27th Cav, Co F?
.
I stumbled onto "Wm. Warwhoop" that reminded me of "Obediah C. Whoopis" and "Ann Whoopis" whose names are on sevearl documents in THE BOURLAND PAPERS.

WARWHOOP, William Warwhoop, Private in Whitfield’s 27th Cavalry. Co F. ..CSR states: “William Warwhoop Enlisted March 7, 1862 Clarksville TX by Capt. Edward West. ..Wm. Warwhoop Died July 1, 1862 Columbus, Mississippi ... Name appears in a column of names as 'Wm. Warhop' "
.
one Caroline WARHOP, 18 TX, on 1870 Red River Co TX cen p20...
.
I suspect that "Wm. Warwhoop, Warhop" was the son of Obediah C. and Ann Whoopis. We have searched for this "Obediah C. Whoopis" for years.

In 1846 Col James Bourland bought a 2114-acre tract on the Fannin-Lamar County line, then in order to get a clear title, he spent the next eight (8) years in court. ..Fifteen (15) documents address the clear title issue on a 2114-ac tract and shows that he finally won in the 1854 Texas Supreme Court.
.... The reader will appreciate the services of today's title companies.

Enclosed, you will find a affidavit which you have to sign & swear before a county court clerk, or a notary public, & then affidavit must to be filed with the clerk of the Dist. Court & the Judge orders a certificate of issue, which is done by the clerk & approved by the Judge.
.
You will return the affidavit to me as soon as it is signed & sworn to by you and I will get the certificate & send it to you. See Act of Legislature, 1854, p115, late law on this subject.
