William H Fleming/Flemming, Texas

Hello Friends. It has been a long time since I have visited this site, and it has always been a pleasure, but I could use a little help. I have proven my great grandfather, W. H. Fleming/Flemming (I've seen it spelled both ways for him) was a Captain with Company K of the 34th Texas Cavalry (Alexander's Texas Regt Cavalry and 2nd Regiment Partisan Rangers), so that's not an issue, but I have gaps which are preventing me from moving forward with his military service. C.B. Titus was elected in his place at the reorganization of Alexander's Regiment on June 27, 1862 (not surprising, since he was only 17 at the time), but what I can't prove is whether he is the same W H Flemming that is on the roster of Terry's Texas Rangers. There is a lot of info on footnote and other sites about all of those units, but I can't seem to find what I need for the determination one way or the other - for example parole papers or the muster in documents etc. His obituary states that he enlisted in Company C of Waller's brigade at Waco, Texas, and participated in the battles of Corinth, Iuka (mistakenly transcribed as "Inca" by the newspaper), Black River, Yellow Bayou, and Pleasant Hill (Trans Mississippi/Red River Campaign). He is also pictured at the 1902 Confederate reunion with a group from Tom Green's brigade (loved finding that!)There was a W H Fleming "wounded severely in the arm" at Shiloh, but I'm not sure if it was "my" William. W H Fleming was born 1845 in Ray County, Missouri, and lived in Texas and Missouri throughout his life, leaving Texas when he was widowed in the 1880's and returning to Missouri to Newton and McDonald for most of his adult life, where he had one of the first resorts in the ozarks. Died at Collinsville, OK at his daughter's house, buried at Neosho, Newton County, MO, IOOF cemetery in 1924 (services/Bigham Chapel/Christian Church/F.E. Mallory, Pastor, officiating). His second wife was Ladora Combs nee Timmonds, a widow. Still my brick wall after all this time. Thanks so much for any input. Carolyn
