I am trying to obtain information on the members of Company D, 31st Texas Cavalry Regiment. Specifically, I am looking for any information on my great grandfather Jacob Ansil Wright Wheeler. According to his Texas Confederate Pension he enlisted in Parker County in 1862. He and his brother William A. Wheeler enlisted at the same time. Jacob served between 18 and 24 months before being discharged due to chronic dysentery. William served for the entire war. I have yet to find any muster roll records on Jacob, but there are records for William. I am trying to apply for a Confederate headstone for Jake, however, the VA will no longer accept Civil War Pension record as proof of service.
