Military doctors-Civil War

My ancestor, Joel William Chivers enlisted with 34th Texas Cavalry aka Alexander's 2nd Texas Partisan Rangers as a 2nd Lt. The 34th was put together at Ft. Washita in Okla. Territory and since there was a military hospital there, is there any way to find out if he stayed at the hospital since he was a practicing physician. He died of some disease (I believe it was dystentary) prior to March 1863 and family records indicate he died in Oklahoma territory so that would make sense.

OR, is there anyway to find out names of military doctors from Texas who served in the Civil War? NW
