I do not have further details but a company in San Antonio either attempted or produced gunpowder during the war. Most likely with the encouragement of the Texas Military Board.

A few small denomination circulating currency notes have survived dated San Antonio,Texas.January 1st,1863.

Texas Powder Company for One Dollar/Un Peso
Issued to James Duff
Signed by Company Treasurer Alex Young
Redeemable at the Companies of McCarthy & Duff and Sweet & Lacoste.

There was also an Army Clothing Manufacturing Co. in San Antonio under a James Boyd. November,1862.

Is probable some few other outfits in SA engaged in Military business.
