I have a "J.M. Chandler" in a Fannin County militia in which many militia members later enlisted in either Companies C and G of Stevens' 22d Tx Cavalry. ..I assumed that this "J.M. Chandler" was the "Joseph M. Chandler, b-1833" of Co. G in Steven's 22d Cavalry.

Moreover, I have a "Joseph Chandler b-1818" that I have not found. If feel that these two are closely related. ..Thus far, I have not looked beyond Texas for either of these Chandlers, but I have found over ae hundred men beyond Texas. I am primarily searching for each soldier in Bourland's Regt, which has proven to be quite an undertaking.

Keep in mind that these listings were copied from field notes at least once; copying from a copy leads to mistakes; and Of course, it was and is easy to confuse the handwritten letters H, N, M, and W.

I assume that your Joseph Hampton Chandler was born in 1833 that the 22d Cav archival record shows. ..Please let me know if you find your Joseph Hampton Chandler.
