Re: Maj Finis Ewing Kavanaugh & Col Dan Showalter

Patty, There is a letter from C.L. Johnson to Andrew Melvorne Jackson, CSA Secretary of the Arizona Territory and ditto, pre 1861, of the (US) New Mexico Territory on 14 April 1866, saying Kavanaugh had recently died in Mexico. Mrs. Cordelia Jackson was a Kavanaugh and related somehow. They were all friends in Santa Fe before 1861. Source: A.M. Jackson Papers at the Univ. of Southern Mississippi Library, Special Collections. Kavanaugh had advanced consumption and drank heavily. Earl Pittman
