Thank you Ms. Betts for the newspaper information in a previous thread. For those of us unable to visit the archives, libraries, or access satellite library databases, what is the best subscription on-line newspaper database for Houston and Galveston that includes 1864? (I can access Galveston from 1865 onward using Ancestry.) I am also interested in earlier years for Houston. I have found several subscription sites, but they want my credit card number before I have a chance to see what they have to offer. I am asking my fellow researchers which subscription databases would have either of my two cities and which databases they prefer.
