Ft Phantom Hill Road- Robert E. Lee
Mike, the small map I'm looking at is in the book A NO MAN'S LAND BECOMES A COUNTY. It's about the history of Mills County, which was formed in 1887. The map shows a section of the road in Lampasas and Brown counties, later to be the western part of Mills County. The road enters the southern part of Mills county about 8 miles south of San Saba Peak. It travels northwest and crosses Bull's Creek about 4 miles south of Goldthwaite. From there still moving northwest approximately 8 miles it runs through Williams' Ranch. On to the northwest it passes about 3 miles west of Mullin. It leaves Mills County still headed northwest about 3 miles northeast of Pecan Bayou. The map looks good but small 5" square. It doesn't show where it starts or ends, just how it passes through Mills County. It was drawn by county surveyor Jim Long. There's probably a better map of the road somewhere.
